Approximately 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, producing strong winds reaching 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Ice Stones and Broad Damage

Locals observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across the state had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to handle the extensive power failures.

State Emergency Services responded to 598 emergency reports across the state, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At one point on Sunday, more than twenty-eight thousand power users in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

Tuesday was expected to become the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity expected across various areas of both areas.

Medical Alert

Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.

This warning comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
