NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features text commentary for Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary is available on designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar and after last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games were the number of infractions each committed. The Eagles did so at crucial times meaning they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this Sunday.

However it was positive to see that Denver's QB the rookie managed to have the shortfall before lead three scoring drives in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game by four points.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year in CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could position two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and send a slot defender from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said on a program how Denver could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended last season well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while new running back their rusher is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

It's impressive that head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

That shows how Denver represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in positive down and distances.

This has helped QB the young passer, who entered into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to throw all over, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, and he's so athletic.

His assets include his movement, being able to pass while moving, and finding different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of poise under pressure and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defense has to cover the field vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems the coach likes that attitude, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB who's kind of like play-dough. He can really develop him the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach owns a championship and has passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the achievements Denver are experiencing on offence is mostly down to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person in your ear, to assist you through difficult moments and boost self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need to do to continue this path.

They excel at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad without a win a game.

Since the NFL began tracking turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

This hinges upon which form of the Chiefs they face because Denver {beat|def
