Baroque Works is poised to play a huge role in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the major clash isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has just been cast.

Netflix announced this week that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Bentham. Bon Clay has the ability to morph into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a version of that role re-envisioned as non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the live-action series, differing from the initial comic and animated series.

The new cast member joins a number of fresh additions who will portray Baroque Works to the screen, featuring leader Mr. 0, brought to life by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as another operative, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Although the role is a major member of the organization, the character won’t appear until One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering the next season likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this represents a significant shift in the placement of the character’s debut, one that could indicate further changes to the plot development.

Their mix of precise humor and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the role. Besides their recent voice performance in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece program is scheduled to come back for its season two on March 10, 2026.
