Soccer Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning run came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, but can the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.

For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

The Hammers' sole away victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was still Forest manager.

So, what on earth do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

A family member advised me to select Bees forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

They have have lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

But I am not going to do that. Rather, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's home record, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have still been respectable at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough fixture to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
