An ex- US state department official, a foreign policy expert, observed, "The Russian leader is attempting to derail the momentum toward greater sanctions on the Kremlin." Fried continued, "The outcome will become clear tomorrow, but the likelihood of achieving a ceasefire by pressuring Moscow to get serious seem to have diminished."

This development came after Trump had recently been strengthening his language toward Moscow until Thursday's call with the Russian president, which the Russian government described as "extremely frank and trustful."

EU Fuel Sanctions and Economic Effects

The European Union have set a requirement for fuel importers into the European Union to demonstrate their fuels are not made from Russian oil, as stated in a document published on Thursday. This step is included in the European Union's forthcoming prohibition on imports of refined products processed from Russian petroleum, which forms part of its latest restrictive measures against Russia over its military actions in the region.

Financial experts observed that investment activity appeared to be factoring in the possible reduction of India's imports of Russian crude. Some Indian refiners are preparing to reduce Russian oil imports, with expectations of a phased decrease, as reported by insiders knowledgeable about the matter.

"This represents a favorable turn for the crude oil price as it would eliminate a major customer of Russian crude," commented Tony Sycamore, noting that oil prices were steady on the trading day.

Security Developments and Energy Strikes

A massive Moscow's drone and missile assault targeted gas facilities in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, resulting in disruptions in eight areas. Authorities in Ukraine reported that Russia launched numerous of drones and many of projectiles, along with glide bombs.
